Attached below are the details of a Income Tax Refund Phishing Scam which is currently being attempted on Indian citizens. The objective of this email is to make you aware of this scam so that you do not respond to such emails and also educate our customers who seek your advice on such emails that they might have received. Step1: The phising email looks like the one below;
Step 2: If you click on the CLICK HERE option it takes you to a bogus income tax site as given below;
Step 3: There is a drop down option for various Indian Banks to choose from;
Step 4: Whichever Bank you choose, the purpose of this scam is to extract your net-baking passwords and additional authentication details. And so the next screens displayed will be bogus sites imitating the respective Banks net-banking sites, requesting you to enter your password and other authentication details such as challenge questions and answers in our case.
Step 5: Once you have compromised your details the final screen displayed is as follows;
This is all fake, do not respond to such emails. Be aware and be alert.
